Harris Liebergot

Harris Liebergot is a Program Manager and Computer Scientist in the Advanced Technology Program (ATP) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He is the program manager for the technology area Adaptive Learning Systems. This program seeks to accelerate research, development, and subsequent commercial uses of products and services that will utilize advanced information technologies to enhance the U.S. capability in the broad spectrum of education.

Dr. Liebergot has had extensive background in both the technical and business sides of information systems - in industry, government, and academia, and in the U.S. as well as overseas. Beginning in 1967 in programming and hardware design with Unisys Corporation, he moved successively to system design, strategic planning, design and manufacturing quality control, and for 9 years was resident in Japan as a Managing Director of Japan Unisys Ltd, a $3B/year marketing and support joint venture organization. From 1989-91 he was Vice-President of International Marketing Requirements at the world headquarters of the corporation.

Dr. Liebergot obtained a B.S. in Physics, M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and PhD in Information Science, all from Drexel University in Philadelphia. His thesis involved studying the use of the internet by scientists at the Japanese High Energy Physics Laboratory in obtaining scientific information from the U.S.
