| Art Blevins
Art Blevins has served as the Director of the NIST-funded RAILS project since February 1999. Prior to joining eCollege.com, Mr. Blevins was Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Carson-Newman College. At the college, Mr. Blevins was a leader in distance education efforts, supplementing classroom lectures with web-based materials, and teaching a Java programming course on-line. From 1988 to 1994, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company as a senior and lead engineer. Specializing in computer aircraft simulation, Mr. Blevins contributed to several research and development projects, and gained applied artificial intelligence experience through the McDonnell Douglas Research Labs. Mr. Blevins received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Carson-Newman College, a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and is completing his Ph.D. in Computer Science through Vanderbilt University.
