Professional Background: Thomas Lettieri, joined the ATP's Information Technology and Electronics office in April 1993 . Tom is currently serving as Program Manager and Technical Specialist in the ATP. Dr. Lettieri has been at NIST for over twenty-seven years, working primarily in the fields of optics and high-pressure measurements. At ATP, Dr. Lettieri manages a program portfolio with a broad range of optics technologies. Specifically, these include lasers, electro-optics, opto-electronics, fiber optics, optical telecommunication, multi-media, displays, optical fabrication and testing, lighting, and their respective manufacturing processes. Dr. Lettieri is a member of the Optical Society of America, and IEEE. He is a Fellow of the Washington Academy of Sciences, and past president of the Philosophical Society of Washington. Tom was a U.S. Representative to the International Commission for Optics, as well as a former member of several ASTM and ANSI standards committees. Tom was also the ATP Representative to the DARPA Technology Reinvestment Project (TRP). Dr. Lettieri received his Ph.D. and an M.S. in optics from the University of Rochester , a Masters in General Administration from the University of Maryland, a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland , and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami .
