(301) 975-3104 Senior AdvisorProfessional Background: Christopher Currens works as a program manager, economist, and general business specialist with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Advanced Technology Program (ATP). Prior to coming to ATP, Christopher was an auditor and management consultant for nearly 10 years, in both the private and public sectors. He has experience in management, finance, and information systems. His clients have included the Internal Revenue Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition to his project management duties, Christopher is acting as the Senior Advisor to the Director of ATP. The responsibilities of this position include working with the Director on matters of technology policy and external relations, interacting with the NIST Program Office to provide information and response to requests, and assisting with the preparation of presentations and special reports. Christopher was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Finance from Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He received a Master of Business Administration, with concentrations in Information Systems and Finance, from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. In addition, Christopher has completed numerous graduate courses in Computer Science at Hood College. He also holds a number of professional audit certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and the Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA).
