Discussing, from an industrial perspective, what directions, goals and pathways are currently being pursuing for CBM; what additional directions, goals and pathways should be considered; and what the challenges and barriers are in those directions and pathways that are preventing CBM goals from being achieved.

10:45 a.m. David Thurston, Program Manager, Condition-Based Maintenance, Office of Naval Research Current Research and Research Needs in CBM -
From a research perspective, what are the current activities in CBM; what new technologies are ready to come out of the research community; and where are the critical holes in R&D programs that need to be filled.

  • Sensors and Transducers for Monitoring Machine Health
  • Prognostication Capabilities
  • Integration and Reasoning Systems
Objectives will be to identify: what new technologies are desired or being pursued by industry; technical barriers to developing and commercializing these technologies; potential solutions and directions for overcoming these technical barriers, and how potential solutions could result in industry interaction with ATP.
