Connie Dresser
is the Program Director for the National Cancer Institute's Multimedia
Technology/Health Communication SBIR/STTR Grant Program and the
Acting NCI SBIR Liaison to the Office of the Director at the National
Institutes of Health. Her program, which funds ehealth applications
in nine research categories, has produced two "Linking Science
and Business SBIR Showcases" and an informative web site for
new and experienced applicants that highlights grant synthesis and
developed products. She has championed ehealth research activities
at NCI and with the Department of Health and Human Services. For
her efforts, Ms. Dresser has been awarded numerous NIH Merit Awards.
As a licensed and registered public health nutritionist in private
practice and the former nutrition analyst for CDC's National and
Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, she brings her
experiences in clinical and applied health communication, public
health nutrition, epidemiology, database development, data surveillance
and interpretation, questionnaire development, and statistical reporting
to her current role. She has written more than 30 peer reviewed
book and journal articles and government publications. She received
her Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from Marywood
University and developed her communication skills during her internship
with the Public Health Service in New York City.
