About the AuthorsJeffrey H. Dyer is the Horace Pratt Beesley Professor of Global Strategy at the Marriott School of Management, Brigham Young University. His research focuses on strategic alliances, creativity and innovation, and interorganizational learning and knowledge management. He serves on the editorial board of Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and Strategic Organization. He has consulted at companies such as Motorola, Ford, Navistar, Bang & Olufsen. He received his Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Los Angeles. Benjamin C. Powell is Assistant Professor of Management at the Culverhouse College on Commerce and Business Administration, University of Alabama. His research focuses on organizational formation and knowledge processes, interorganizational learning and R&D alliances. He received his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Pennsylvania. Mariko Sakakibara is Associate Professor of Policy at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research interests include innovation, alliances, multinational enterprises, and global competition. Prior to coming to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar, she was Deputy Director at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Japan. She received her Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University. Andrew J. Wang is Economist in the Economic Assessment Office at the Advanced Technology Program, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He conducts research relevant to program evaluation and policy. He has managed economic studies and other projects, and has led development of special surveys of program participants.
