Raymond Kammer

Raymond Kammer is currently the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology an agency of the U.S. Commerce Department's Technology Administration. Previously, Mr. Kammer served as acting Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Secretary for Administration and the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Commerce.

Mr Kammer was Deputy Director of NIST from 1980 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997 and was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Institute and for long-range planning and policy development.

From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Kammer was Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere in NOAA. Mr. Kammer began his career with the Department of Commerce in 1969 as a program analyst.

His awards include both the Gold and Silver Medals of the Department of Commerce, the William A. Jump Award for Exceptional Achievement in Public Administration, the Federal Government Meritorious Executive Award, and the Roger W. Jones Award for Executive Leadership.
