Dr. George Bechtel

George Bechtel is Director of the Wireless Program at Strategies Unlimited, a market research and business strategy consulting company in Mountain View, California. He joined the company in 1994 where he is specializes in analyzing and reporting on wireless communication markets for semiconductors, especially Gallium Arsenide.

Dr. Bechtel has over 30 years experience in the RF, microwave and wireless industry. He was previously Vice President of Semiconductor Operations at Litton Solid State and Varian Solid State. He was responsible for developing a merchant semiconductor business, based on advanced III-V semiconductor materials for defense and commercial RF, microwave, and optoelectronic markets.

He started his Silicon Valley career at Fairchild Semiconductor where he directed development of microwave semiconductor products. Dr. Bechtel was responsible for the introduction of the first commercial GaAs FET product line. He also contributed to the development of high-speed silicon devices and circuits. He received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

He served as General Chairman for the 1995 IEEE GaAs IC Symposium.
